Virtual Video Public Hearing Notice Family Reentry Pilot Program For Public Housing

Virtual Public Hearing Notice For Public Housing

Notice is given that the Newark Housing Authority (NHA) will conduct a Public Hearing for the Implementation of a Family Re-entry Pilot Program for the Public Housing Program. The Public Housing units currently a part of the pilot includes 54 units owned and managed by NHA.

Newark Housing Authority (NHA) is part of a consortium of five Delaware Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) administering a statewide Family Reentry Pilot Program (FRP). This program represents a statewide initiative to advance Governor John Carney’s effort to support the reentry success and reduce Delaware’s recidivism rate through Executive Order 27.

The goal of the program is to provide individuals recently released from incarceration, or individuals who have been in the community for less than 3 years (either following a period of incarceration, or following the commission of an offense which did not result in incarceration) with the opportunity to reunite with their families living in PHA-assisted housing for a temporary one-to- two year period. During the program, participants must comply with the terms of any applicable community supervision, and will be offered various support services such as help securing employment, continuing their education, and/or obtaining benefits. After participants successfully complete the FRP, they can request to be added to their family’s lease permanently.

A copy of the FRP Pilot Program Addendum will be available for inspection and review at NHA’s offices at 313 East Main Street, Newark, Delaware during normal business hours, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, beginning [Friday, July 24, 2020].  The FRP Pilot will also be available on the NHA website, beginning [Friday, July 24, 2020].  The comment period will end on [Thursday, September 10, 2020].
